Have a valid driver’s license, you can share Christ

Our Bridge Mentor from LCdC shared her experience of taking their Bridge family to church.  Our ‘Bridge Kid’ participated in the children’s sermon lead by Pastor Ruby.  Pastor asked the children if they remember what gift they received three years ago.  Our Bridge Kid raised his hand and said “he received Jesus!”  Pastor led the congregation in a round of applause.

The end of the service when we all were reciting the Lord’s prayer, again our Bridge Kids did a great job following along and saying the prayer out loud, even a lady that was sitting in front of our Bridge Family and their mentoring church team member told him he did a good job.

Tonight when I was running errands my Bridge family called me.  “Hi Barb, what are you doing do you miss me?”  Yeah he made my day.

Our Church team from La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church has been providing transportation and has worshiped alongside their Bridge family since she entered in December 2014.  Our Bridge Mom has been taking her son to church since receiving him back in her care in November 2015.  But LCdC has been taking “Bridge Kids” and their mothers to church since 1989.  In this act of mentoring and sharing Christ many lives have been impacted.

Thank you to all our congregations who open their doors and ensure our Bridge families attend church weekly.  Your willingness to come alongside a homeless single mother and her children is humbling.  You may be just driving them to church, but you are sharing the love and transformation that is only found in Christ.

This account was from 2016.  This little boy continues to be a part of our ministry.  He volunteers with his mother to watch our Bridge kids when he is not too busy with sports or with his little brother.
