What can one decision on one day start?
When a person chooses recovery, this is a choice of life. It is the beginning for a life to change from one of loss to abundance.
April 21, 2021, one year ago, Rochelle chose life. She chose sobriety. During this past year she found she held within her strength, grit, and tenacity to make her recovery a priority. Her life trajectory altered. And certainly, her family’s trajectory.
Rochelle, like many mothers, enter The Bridge to Hope with the hopes of parenting their children. Her infant son, Harvey, was removed at birth due to her addiction. Rochelle was able to create a loving, safe home at the B2H. She welcomed her son Harvey into her care in her new home at The Bridge to Hope. In her youth, she chose to drop out of high school due to drugs. With the clarity she found in sobriety, she knew she was made for more and worked at obtaining her high school diploma. That is a milestone she obtained earlier this month. Today she has her sights on Vocational Training to find employment that will provide for her family as a single parent.
Rochelle’s choice and commitment to staying clean and sober placed her on solid ground, but it is her faith that has given her wings. With her love and support from her mentoring church team, The Bridge Church, she knows she is no longer alone. Even when life happens, Rochelle remains focused on being the loving and attentive mama her son deserves.
We are grateful to everyone who makes The Bridge to Hope possible for mothers like Rochelle who choose life, who choose sobriety and persevere daily to live in His will.
“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
(Romans 5:3-5)
