There are moments in this work that remind us why we do it—moments that feel like a glimpse of redemption coming full circle.

This is one of them.

The Bridge to Hope is celebrating something powerful: we now have two graduates who have stepped back into the ministry…not as participants, but as leaders.

April, a Bridge graduate from more than 20 years ago, has a story marked by loss and redemption. Her family was torn apart by addiction, yet today she is reunited with her children and embraced by a church family from Vista (formerly First Southern Baptist Church of Scottsdale). She now serves from a place of restoration—as a woman of God who has lived what she now helps others walk through.

Ashley, sponsored by La Casa de Cristo, also entered the program separated from her daughter. Today, she is stepping forward to help lead and organize our Child Enrichment Ministry. She brings not only deep understanding, but a level of creativity that shapes how our children experience care, stability, and truth. She too is serving from a story God has redeemed.

Together, they represent something powerful: two women who once came through our doors in need…now helping build what once helped build them.

That’s not just success.
That’s transformation.

It’s the kind of transformation we pray for. The kind that doesn’t just change a moment—it changes a trajectory. Lives rebuilt…then poured back out for others.

And while this is worth celebrating—and we are celebrating—it does not mean the need has lessened.

It has grown.

Our graduates bring something we cannot manufacture: lived understanding, deep compassion, and steady leadership. They strengthen the foundation. But the ministry itself still depends on a community willing to step in, show up, and serve.

Children are still walking into rooms needing stability.
Mothers are still doing the hard work of rebuilding.
And ministry still happens when people say “yes” and walk through the door.

If you’ve ever considered volunteering, this is the time.

And if you want to see this transformation up close, join us at Hope on Fire on April 25th. It’s more than an event—it’s a chance to step into the story, meet the women and children whose lives are being rebuilt, and experience the mission of The Bridge to Hope firsthand.

Not because there is a gap to fill—but because there is something meaningful being built, and you’re invited into it.

Hope on Fire – April 25 at Vista Church

Something powerful happens when a community decides to show up.

On April 25, that’s exactly what we’re going to do.

Hope on Fire is more than an event. It’s a gathering of churches, families, local vendors, and everyday people who believe that hope isn’t just a word — it’s something you live out. And we’re bringing that fire to Vista Church for one incredible day.

What Is Hope on Fire?

Hope on Fire is a family-friendly community event designed to ignite compassion and action. Hosted in partnership with local churches and organizations, this day will be filled with:

A vibrant Vendor Market

Churches hosting free children’s activities

Opportunities to learn about the mission of The Bridge to Hope

Fellowship, connection, and a whole lot of joy

This isn’t just about attending something fun (although it will be fun). It’s about rallying around single mothers and their children who are working hard to rebuild their lives through The Bridge to Hope.

Because hope changes everything.

Why This Matters

Every vendor booth, every children’s craft, every conversation helps shine a light on what God is doing in our community. Proceeds and partnerships from this event directly support the women and children at The Bridge to Hope — mothers who are courageously choosing stability, growth, and faith for their families.

Hope on Fire is where mission meets movement.

And honestly? We need that right now.

Three Ways to Get Involved

Become a Vendor
Showcase your business while supporting a life-changing cause. Your presence elevates the event — and your participation helps fuel hope for families in need.

Partner as a Church or Organization
Host a children’s activity table or join the market with proceeds benefiting The Bridge to Hope. This is a hands-on way to serve together and make an eternal impact. Many volunteer opportunities are available for your faith community to get involved.

Come and Bring Someone With You
Invite your small group. Your neighbors. Your friends. Make a day of it.

Let’s Light the Fire

We believe that when the Church steps outside the building and into the community, something shifts. Hope spreads. Generosity grows. Families are strengthened.

April 25 at Vista Church is more than a date on the calendar.
It’s an opportunity to stand together and say:

We see you.
We believe in you.
We’re with you.

At The Bridge to Hope, partnering with churches isn’t a strategy we added later. It’s the foundation. It is the ministry.

From the beginning, we’ve believed what Scripture has made clear for centuries: God transforms lives through His people. Not programs alone. Not professionals alone. Ordinary, redeemed believers walking faithfully with one another.

Every mother at The Bridge to Hope is supported by a Christian faith community—intentionally. Each church forms a team of real people, with real lives and real commitments, who come alongside a mother to mentor, encourage, disciple, and walk with her as she learns daily dependence on Christ.

This isn’t case management. This is discipleship. And discipleship is the Church’s calling.

You Don’t Need a Degree—You Need Jesus

Here’s the part that makes people pause: our volunteers don’t need special credentials. They don’t need to have it all together.

They need to love God. They need to be willing. They need lives being shaped—still imperfectly—by His grace.

God has always worked this way. Fishermen. Widows. Tentmakers. People who said yes before they felt ready.

He’s still doing that.

Why This Matters—for Our Mothers

Homelessness isn’t just a housing issue. It’s a hope issue. A belonging issue. A does-my-life-matter issue.

Many of the mothers who come to us don’t arrive asking for encouragement—they arrive surviving. Guarded. Unsure. Often unaware that what they’re missing is safe, consistent, Christ-centered community.

When a mother is surrounded by a church, she isn’t just receiving help—she’s being welcomed into the family of God. She begins to see faith lived out in real relationships, through real struggles, with real people.

That kind of transformation only happens through relationship.

This Is the Work God Designed

The Bridge to Hope exists because the Church exists. We don’t replace the local church—we partner with it. We don’t outsource discipleship—we support it.

When churches step in, mothers rise up. When believers say yes, lives change. When God’s people show up, hope takes root.

This is not an afterthought. This is the ministry.

And we are deeply grateful for every church, every volunteer, and every faithful yes.

To Our Volunteers: Thank You for Saying Yes

To those who have shown up, leaned in, prayed faithfully, listened patiently, and loved generously—thank you.

Thank you for opening your life, not just your calendar. Thank you for staying present in hard conversations and holy moments. Thank you for reflecting Christ not through perfection, but through faithfulness.

You didn’t need all the answers. You didn’t need to be “qualified.” You simply said yes—and God did the rest.

Because of you, mothers are discovering they are not alone, not forgotten, and not defined by their past. This ministry stands on your obedience, and we are genuinely grateful.

Now—We Need More of God’s People

If you’ve ever wondered whether God could use you, this invitation is for you.

There are mothers who haven’t yet found the courage to ask for help. There are children watching faith modeled for the first time. There are church teams ready—waiting—for one more willing heart. Click here to learn if your church is a part of The Bridge to Hope. If not, you can be the catalyst.

This isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what the Church was created to do.

If God is stirring something in you, don’t dismiss it. Step forward. Join us. Be part of what He is doing through The Bridge to Hope.

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works… encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”— Hebrews 10:24–25

Because of your unwavering support, the mothers who walked through our doors found more than shelter—they found a safe place to heal, hope renewed, and a community that believes in them. Each story of transformation is a testament to God’s faithfulness and your generosity.

Your prayers, volunteer hours, and gifts have changed lives. Mothers are equipped with skills, confidence, and the assurance that they are never alone. Children have seen the love of Christ in action and experienced the stability that every child deserves.

As we give thanks for today’s victories, we also look forward with hope. God is already calling the next generation of mothers to our ministry—mothers who will need a hand to lift them out of homelessness, fear, and uncertainty. Your continued support today will provide for them tomorrow: a safe place to stay, guidance to grow, and the opportunity to step into the life God has planned for them.

At The Bridge to Hope, our ministry is built on ordinary people who step forward in faith—and through God’s power, do extraordinary things. We celebrate two of those people: Steve and Connie, who mark 20 years of faithful volunteer service this September.

For two decades, Steve and Connie have walked alongside mothers in crisis, showing up with compassion, encouragement, and practical help. They have provided rides, cared for children when moms needed to attend work or school, and even opened their home for birthdays, holidays, and afternoons of fellowship. They have led their church team with dedication, gathering volunteers each month for prayer, encouragement, and planning. And long after a mother “graduates” from The Bridge to Hope, Steve and Connie continue to nurture relationships, reminding each one that she will always remain part of our family.

“Connie and Steve were blessings that came to us during a difficult time for my family. From their ability to be truly kind and accepting, they have become family to me and my kids. They will always be in our hearts and forever a part of my story to a better life!” — Kayla, A Bridge Graduate from 2017

One volunteer put it beautifully: “Steve is a doer, a server of others, a lover of teaching the next generation—the children, and an encourager. Connie is the organizer, the family spokesperson, practical, caring, and giving. Both were involved beyond the call of duty… A real good adjective for them would be FAITHFUL.” Another added, “They have been available to many moms and their children, nurturing and encouraging them. Their Bridge family grows as each mom leaves the protection of the ministry, but Steve and Connie keep the relationships strong.”

Steve and Connie’s story reminds us that ministry is not built on grand gestures, but on steady faithfulness. They are not superheroes. They are everyday people who said “yes” to God’s call—and through that yes, God has used them to change lives.

The truth is, The Bridge to Hope cannot exist without people like Steve and Connie. Our moms need mentors and encouragers who will walk with them as they rebuild their lives. They also need the support of those who give financially so that apartments, staff, and ministry space are possible. Volunteers and supporters together make this ministry alive.

As we celebrate Steve and Connie’s 20 years, we also extend an invitation: Will you step forward, just as they did? Maybe God is calling you to mentor a mom, serve on a church team, or support this ministry financially. You don’t have to be extraordinary—just willing. God does the rest.

Steve and Connie’s faithfulness has left a legacy that continues to grow. Imagine the impact if more of us said “yes.”

Happy 20th Anniversary, Steve and Connie. Thank you for showing us what it means to Love God and through that love serve faithfully.

Kaylea’s story is one of heartbreak, survival, and—thanks to God’s grace and your support—radical transformation.

In her own words, when asked what brought her shame during her addiction, she didn’t hold back:

“Yes. The using. Stripping. Prostituting. Fighting people. Stealing. Abandoning my family.”

That’s real. That’s raw. And that was before.

Today, Kaylea is enrolled in cybersecurity training. She’s rebuilding her life, preparing for a professional career that will allow her to support her family with dignity and strength. She’s not just surviving—she’s rising.

When Kaylea came to The Bridge, she wasn’t just looking for a place to stay—she was desperate for a way forward.

“The most important thing I want from The Bridge is stability and support as I learn how to gain my own stability for me and my daughters—to be around people who live for Christ and show me how to better do so.”

That’s exactly what she’s found:

Faith in her abilities and purpose

Direction where there was once confusion

Discipline to walk out the hard work of healing

And she’s not doing it alone.

She’s doing it because people like you made room for her.

Your generosity makes The Bridge possible.
You help provide not just shelter, but a home and hope, education, mentorship, and a community centered on Christ. You’re helping rewrite stories. You’re helping raise up moms who will change the future for their children.

Want to be part of it?

We need people like you to help us continue this work:

Give — Your donations fuel life transformation every single day.

Volunteer — Share your time, your wisdom, your presence.

Pray — Cover our moms, our team, and this ministry in prayer.

Because of your support, Kaylea’s past no longer has the final word—and her daughters are now witnessing what redemption looks like.

This is how homelessness ends.
One family at a time. One mom at a time.

Perhaps these words (Good, Good Father) easily flow from you about our Heavenly Father – but not words that come to mind about your earthly father. Perhaps, like many of our Moms and children at The Bridge to Hope, the enemy has written different words about their earthly father. Perhaps God is doing something so bold and new that a generation of men and fathers are being raised up to rewrite the script in our minds. Men like the mentors and volunteers on our church teams at The Bridge to Hope. Men who feel commissioned by God.

The importance of fathers is central to God’s plan for all of us. God can restore broken fathers and families; God can implant strong men to fill the empty holes in our lives. God can, as he did with Moses, Daniel and Nehemiah, raise up men to stand in the gap and protect families. In a culture that often devalues strong men – God says, “rise up oh men of God”!

Please take the time to thank and encourage all the fathers and men in your life who stand in the gap for you or others. As we take time at The Bridge to Hope to say a heart felt Thank You to the men that feel commissioned by God stand in the gap for those in our ministry at The Bridge to Hope.

April, a Bridge Graduate from 2006, volunteers at The Bridge office. April picked up a devotional and read it out loud. The day’s entry was titled “Remember the Bread” in Max Lucado’s “God is with you Every Day.”

As she read, it made me consider her journey. She took the first step to get sober, but needed more. She needed a place to begin again for her and her children. The devotional “Remember the Bread” reads “governments don’t feed the soul. This secular relief house can give a bed, a meal, and valuable counsel. But we give much more. Not just help for this life but hope for the next.”

You give so much more! Your willingness to support The Bridge to Hope provides housing, mentoring, and discipleship to a mother and her children. Your support not only gives her a bed and a meal, your support gives her a new start to her journey. Her journey to learn God’s will for her life, and how to live abundantly and with joy in His will, even when life still happens.

Today, a new mother, Aaliyah, came to the office seeking a bed, and the Faith Bible Church team moved her in. I look forward to watching her grow, heal, and seek His will as April did so many years ago.

Thank you for giving April a home and “Not just help for this life but hope for the next.” Thank you for giving Aaliyah not just a home today, but a new start on her own journey to learn God’s will for her life and how to live abundantly with joy in His will.

They are given choices, and I pray the next momma chooses freedom from her past. Freedom from her stinkin’ thinkin. Freedom from her prior decisions. Freedom from self-doubt. Freedom from self-worth. I pray she learns her true identity is in Christ alone.
