July 1st marks the date Rita claimed her independence from homelessness 20 years ago. She graduated from The Bridge (now The Bridge to Hope). Today when Rita visits us at the office she gives us a hug and her smile reminds us what God can do when a mother seeks His will. Her visits also encourage the new mothers just by being…well Rita!

My name is Rita I would like to share my Journey to The Bridge a place where I found hope.

I entered The Bridge in August 2002 and my family was sponsored by Trinity Bible Church.

Before I came to The Bridge – My life was out of control and chaotic. I was sleeping on a friend of a friend’s couch with my two children. I grew up in a disruptive household, with arguments, fighting, and a lot of yelling. My family knew me as a liar. When I was a teenager I was molested by a family member. I never told anyone. I was told that no one would believe me, my lying was used against me to keep me from sharing. I wanted to run away from the hurt and negativity. I ran into unhealthy relationships and turned to drugs as an escape which led me to put my own children in abusive situations. We became homeless, living off the mercy of others.

I became sober to enter The Bridge. When I originally called, I was smoking marijuana. I quit to be eligible for The Bridge. That was the first right step I made in a long time.

I was given an opportunity to receive vocational training and entered the workforce with a career. We graduated from The Bridge in July 2004. I say we because my children also were transformed by being at The Bridge. Support from The Bridge family and church team Trinity Bible allowed me to become the mother I always wanted to be. I stopped running away and became a parent. The Bridge provided the classes and tools and the church team opened their hearts and provided their time and love to our family. I was able to be open and honest with my children and we became a family unit. I no longer was a slave to deceit.

Thank you for your support of The Bridge to Hope, it is where I stopped running, and became the woman the Lord intended for me to become.

20 years ago there was a housing ministry accepting a mother who desired something different for her family. She didn’t know what it was, but she dared to hope. For those of you who have been supporters of the housing ministry of The Bridge to Hope for 20 years, thank you. Thank you for it was because of you there was a Bridge for Rita. For those who are stepping forward to support The Bridge, thank you, for joining the legacy of hope and a home. We welcome you.

December 2021

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
Ecclesiastes 3:11

We witness the beauty each day at The Bridge to Hope. We stand with you as you share your hope and love in Christ in transforming the lives of mothers that have seen the harder side of life. Together we share this hope and love with the homeless moms who trust The Bridge to Hope to guide them.

Thank you for choosing to support the ministry of The Bridge to Hope. You enable young mothers to get off the streets, get back on their feet and have a stable, safe home for themselves and their children.

At the closing of this year, we look back at a few of our Bridge families and rejoice in all God has restored through you.

Ashley entered the end of November 2020 after being in several housing programs throughout the years. Since then, she completed Medical Assistant Vocational training and was hired where she completed her externship. Engaging in the dignity of work is a gift. Her greatest gift in 2021 was her young daughter being restored to her care following a guardianship. Because of Ashley’s commitment to recovery, employment, and her faith in a future free from addiction, her daughter started kindergarten in her new home!

Amberlee obtained her GED in November. She had completed the 8th grade prior to entering The Bridge to Hope. I want you to consider this, upon entering The Bridge to Hope she had an 8th grade education. Could you imagine providing for a child with only an 8th grade education? In December she began Vocational Training. She is a young mother that today loves learning! She is showing her young son the importance of education and hard work…and doing it with joy!

Angela, lost in her addiction for 18 years and homeless for 8 of those years, came to The Bridge to Hope with her infant son. She believed she could never have children, but the Lord blessed her with a beautiful son, Sol. She is an amazing mother living a life for her son and learning to live life for herself. She is attending training to become a Medical Administrative Assistant.

Rochelle fought hard for her sobriety and her son. She entered The Bridge to Hope for the sole purpose of having her son returned to her from the foster care system. She has received both the gift of sobriety and the gift of her son. She also chose the gift of baptism at her sponsoring church, The Bridge Church, where she also dedicated her son to being raised in the faith.

The Bridge to Hope community grew this past year as we welcomed The Bridge Church. Because of this faith community’s willingness to create a mentoring team, Rochelle, a young mother, was moved into her home at The Bridge to Hope. They were part of God’s plan to provide a safe home for Rochelle’s infant son to return to her from foster care. We are grateful to all the faith community who work alongside The Bridge to Hope in providing a home to a mother in crisis.

At The Journey to Hope, we celebrate the long-term impact The Bridge to Hope has. Rochelle entered with her three young sons in foster care after being released from prison in 2009. Today she is in a management position with a local treatment center for those seeking recovery. She is a homeowner and living her life for Christ.

The Bridge to Hope could not reach the mothers without volunteers willing to give of their time to the ministry of The Bridge to Hope. In 2021 we welcomed 13 new volunteers!

Please consider making a year end gift to The Bridge to Hope.

Your impact of giving to The Bridge to Hope offers hope and a home to homeless singles mothers, and children this year.

The Bridge to Hope is also a qualified charitable organization to receive your Tax Credit monies. Tell the State of Arizona you want to provide Hope and a Home for a mother in crisis, direct your tax dollars to The Bridge to Hope. The moms will be so thankful as they go forward in their lives with a safe place to live and a team of volunteers to love them. You can make your tax credit donation online by clicking here.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

As we begin a new year, we look forward to a year full of possibilities. For Bridge mothers, their possibilities start when they enter The Bridge to Hope, a chance […]

As we begin a new year, we look forward to a year full of possibilities. For Bridge mothers, their possibilities start when they enter The Bridge to Hope, a chance to begin again.

This new year is exciting for one of our Bridge moms. She graduated at the end of 2020, and in 2021 she began her new journey in her home, a home she is providing for her family as a single parent. To The Bridge to Hope, Graduation has many meanings. It means completing goals, healing, and growing as an individual and as a family, and most importantly, gaining a church family. For *Grace it was gaining the love and support from Bethany Bible Church.

Graduation at The Bridge to Hope also means a mentoring church team moves a family into their new home. All the furniture she received when she moved into the Bridge is hers to take with her. For the children, this move feels different from any other move in the past, for they will still have continuity and familiarity, including their bed and “their stuff”; they will know this move is different and good.

A Bridge Graduation is much like sending one’s child into the world to be responsible for themselves. We still love and pray for them, we are still a part of their lives, but the new beginning has started.

Each mentoring church, volunteer, and donor joins into the celebration when a mother enters The Bridge to Hope with the hope of something different. We all celebrate a mother gaining a church family. Everyone can celebrate a mother’s Graduation as she moves from homelessness to wholeness, living with the dignity of accomplishing goals, and the ability to support herself and her children because each person makes her transformation possible. This is the ministry of The Bridge to Hope, sharing the transforming love of Christ. We invite you to join us.

We invite you to join us in ending homelessness One Family at a Time. Become a sponsoring church, a volunteer, or mentor and make it possible for another homeless single mother to learn all that God wants for them and to learn to trust Him.

Crystal, a mother mentored by La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church knew she wanted to make a positive change for her family and future and she knew she had to […]

Crystal, a mother mentored by La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church knew she wanted to make a positive change for her family and future and she knew she had to start with herself. Her two-year journey through The Bridge to Hope culminated in April 2014, when a graduation dinner was hosted in her honor celebrating her transformation from homelessness to wholeness.

Crystal completed Peer Support training, and has maintained employment with a local community provider serving those in need of support and encouragement for positive change since The Bridge to Hope was her home. She has joined them on the path to wellness through the support of someone who has been where they are, and trains others joining her in the mission.

Today Faith Bible Church is mentoring our a Bridge Mom, Quiella. Quiella recently completed Peer Support training with the same agency Crystal completed, and today is employed with. Crystal lead Quiella in learning the art of loving and serving others on their path of recovery. Quiella’s goal is to also work in the field of encouragement and healing.

The employment our mothers frequently choose does not only provide for their family as a single parent but positively impacts our community in powerful ways.

We are grateful for your ongoing support that enables mothers to find their path for personal healing and to use their journey to help others.

On December 11, 2009, Leah entered The Bridge to not only have a home and support in her journey from homelessness to wholeness, but she also entered so her daughter […]

On December 11, 2009, Leah entered The Bridge to not only have a home and support in her journey from homelessness to wholeness, but she also entered so her daughter could be restored to her. Having children returned is a tremendous motivation for many of our mothers. On October 4, 2010, Leah’s support team from Bethany Bible Church and other volunteers and staff moved her restored family into a home of her own.

July 2, 2020, we celebrate again. We want to share this celebration in the words from Nurse Leah.

I passed my nursing board!!! Nurse Leah Copeland, RN!!! Here to serve. Praise the Lord. Thank you!!! I could have never done this without all the direction and accountability I had at The Bridge to Hope. Through the budgeting skills, y’all taught me I was able to get a bachelor’s degree in nursing and only have $5,000 in loans!!! I learned how to do that from y’all. My wants vs. my needs!!!! I’m so grateful that y’all didn’t give up on me and kept guiding me in the right direction. 11 years ago I was lost in addiction and had no hope today I am Nurse Leah RN.

I want to share that again, 11 years ago she was lost in her addiction. You provided this mother the hope she needed by providing a home and the love from a faith community. Today we celebrate with Nurse Leah, RN

Today Bridge moms in their recovery and restoration process appreciate the help and support you give them so that in the future they will be able to share the celebrations of continued accomplishments as Leah has done.

Donate today to continue the legacy of hope. If you would like to learn more on how to become a sponsoring church, please do not hesitate to call The Bridge to Hope.

She traveled with the twins in their carriers and strollers on the bus wherever she had to go. She graduated from The Bridge and moved into her own apartment in 2008.

Over the years Jennifer and her girls have stayed in close touch with her church team from Bethany Bible Church and the staff at The Bridge.

The twins, Ashley and Aryanna, will be graduating from the 8th grade this year and going to high school. They have already been accepted into a rigorous program at a local high school.

We are celebrating with them as they reach this milestone in their lives.

Jennifer has remained with the same employer for 12 years, maintained stable and safe housing since her daughters have been 3 months old.

Because of her success and encouragement to her girls, they will be graduating with honors as they move on in their continuing education.

When you support The Bridge to Hope, mothers like Jennifer and her girls are able to have the support they needed to become overcomers, Christian young ladies, ready to continue living productive lives.

Thank you, you are ending homelessness One Family at a Time.

December 2019

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
Ecclesiastes 3:11

We witness the beauty He creates at The Bridge to Hope, the beauty of a life transformed. We stand with you as you share your hope and love in Christ in transforming the lives of mothers that have seen the harder side of life. Together we share this hope and love with the homeless moms who trust The Bridge to Hope to guide them.

Thank you for choosing to support the ministry of The Bridge to Hope. You enable young mothers to get off the streets, get back on their feet and have a stable, secure home for themselves and their children.

At the closing of this year, we look back at a few of our Bridge families and rejoice in all God has restored, through you.

Serah entered with the hope of being restored with her two young children. We have been in the waiting process with her during this difficult time. She continues to work full time as a Medical Assistant. She celebrates 30 months’ sobriety. She shares she would have given up hope if it were not for her mentoring team from Faith Bible Church. Please pray with us the Lord sustains this young mother with His peace.

Aurora entered with only her infant daughter and the hope of something different. She became employed for the first time in over 4 years. Engaging in the dignity of work is a gift. La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church celebrated her graduation from The Bridge to Hope this past April. Her daughter, Naomi, will never remember being homeless, because of you.

Franchon a young mother came to us from a local shelter. Her team from Bethany Bible Church provided support and guidance. She was unemployed and motivated to provide for her family. She obtained full-time employment and this October graduated from The Bridge to Hope, moving her family into a home she provides for her family.

Denise came to us from a local shelter with her school-aged son. Her history of employment was limited to jobs without a future of advancement. In November she entered a position with the potential of growth in the company. Denise also chose to be baptized by her sponsoring church First Southern Baptist Church of Scottsdale.

The Bridge to Hope community grew this past year as we welcomed Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. Because of their willingness to create a mentoring team, a young mother was moved into her home at The Bridge to Hope on her daughter’s 1st birthday! What a gift she is providing her family, a home for the holidays because of the bold step of faith of SOV.

This past Journey to Hope, we celebrate the long-term impact The Bridge to Hope has. Michelle entered with three young sons, today these boys are all in college pursuing their future. One of them is now teaching young children at First Southern Baptist Church of Scottsdale where he was mentored. The lives of the children are transformed, not just the mom. For this family, the cycle of homelessness has ended.

As you show your love for God through care and support of single moms and their children, you are offering them an opportunity to change their path. What a gift, their children may not remember what it was like to be homeless.

If you have already sent an end of the year gift, Thank You.

Your impact of giving to The Bridge to Hope has offered hope and a home to homeless singles mothers and children this year. We thank you for your support and monthly giving to The Bridge to Hope. If you have not yet given, we prayerfully request you consider The Bridge to Hope in your year-end giving.

The Bridge to Hope is also a qualified charitable organization to receive your Tax Credit monies. Tell the State of Arizona you want to provide Hope and a Home for a mother in crisis by directing your tax dollars to The Bridge to Hope. The moms will be so thankful as they go forward in their lives with a safe place to live and a team of volunteers to love them.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

What is a Graduation at The Bridge to Hope? We like to think of it as the not so small task of exiting homelessness, and entering the next step of responsibility, independence and providing for your family as a single parent–task.

This month we celebrated a Graduation. Franchon achieved her goals and moved into a home she is providing for her family. Prior to The Bridge to Hope her family was living at a local shelter in our community, unemployed, and notably on her own.

Bethany Bible Church has been there since the beginning of this young mother’s journey. A home was created prior to her arrival, they picked her up from the shelter and began the task of nurturing, encouraging and guiding her daily. Collectively her Bridge Team and her church family from BBC prayed for her and her young children. She was notable no longer on her own.

The Bethany team share an account that made them laugh and consider the profound job they have as mentors. Once a month Bridge mothers hosts their mentoring team in their home for a “Bridge Dinner”. Typically, along with food, there is a time of sharing and prayer. One evening Franchon’s team asked how they could pray for her. Several requests were made, and Steve, a mentor from BBC, asked “who would like to start our praying?” Everyone in the room was pleasantly surprised when Franchon’s young son, who did not appear to be engaged in the going’s on, volunteered to pray. He proceeded to include all requested prayers.

The impact of our mentors is often unknown, but we trust that building a relationship with a young mother in crisis, standing with her with encouraging words, with prayers, is important and life-changing.

We extend to each of our partnering churches a sincere ‘Thank You’ for your commitment to The Bridge to Hope. You ensuring those experiencing homelessness not only receive a safe home, but a faith community to provide the hope she needs to change her life, and the lives of her children.

If you would like to get your church involved in this Kingdom work, ending homelessness One Family at a Time, call The Bridge today.

Together we are ending homelessness One Family at a Time.

When you get involved with The Bridge to Hope, a homeless single mother will have an opportunity to change directions in her family’s life, including her children’s.

Michelle entered The Bridge with three young boys. She committed to providing a future for her family by successfully completing vocational training and fully engaged in all aspects of The Bridge program. Today she successfully living a full life. Her boys were given the opportunity to live life with a mom who was working, supporting them, giving them the chance to grow, in a safe and supportive environment. They were mentored by the team from First Southern Baptist Church Scottsdale. We say they, because the boys were mentored along with their mom and grew up trusting God and wanting to live for Him. Now young adults, they are continuing their education becoming successful on their own. One of her sons is now a teacher in the children’s program at the church that sponsored them, having an opportunity to influence other children in the church that helped bring fullness to his life.

Your gifts not only help bring about healing and encouragement to the moms, but to the next generation. Michelle’s children have productive and successful lives, because their mom was brave and willing to accept the help that B2H and the church that sponsored her was willing to give.

Will you step forward and meet someone in their courage?

See Michelle share in her own words:

Those that support The Bridge to Hope financially or through service are a great blessing to all of our community.
The blessing may be when a mother moves into The Bridge to Hope and again years later.

When B2H accepts a mom into the program she receives a home completely furnished ready to receive her and her children. It isn’t just the mom whose life that has the opportunity to be transformed, it is also the lives of her children. When a mom and the children graduate they move into a home they choose, they often stay connected with the ministry. They continue to call for encouragement and guidance from the staff and from their mentoring church team that supported them when they were living in the Bridge apartment.

Twelve years ago, a mom came with 4-month-old twins they were moved in by their team from Bethany Bible. When they graduated, this same team moved them out of The Bridge into their own apartment, but they have stayed connected and involved with their team and the B2H staff.

Each summer their church team members from Bethany Bible Church brought the girls to VBS. They have graduated from being participants of VBS to be helpers. This summer with the guidance of members of their church team, they shared that they had not personally asked Jesus to be their Lord and Savior. That day, with the mentors that brought them to home to The Bridge to Hope when they were 4 months old, they made that decision.

Those that financially support or volunteer sharing the love for God with the ministry of The Bridge to Hope, you have had a part in these two new creations in Jesus Christ.

If you want to be a part of this transformation and give financially to The Bridge to Hope, click here.

If you would like your church to become involved, transforming the life of a mother and her children who have experienced homelessness, contact The Bridge to Hope today.
