This new year is exciting for one of our Bridge moms.  She graduated at the end of 2020, and in 2021 she began her new journey in her home, a home she is providing for her family as a single parent.  To The Bridge to Hope, Graduation has many meanings.  It means completing goals, healing, and growing as an individual and as a family, and most importantly, gaining a church family.  For *Grace it was gaining the love and support from Bethany Bible Church.

Graduation at The Bridge to Hope also means a mentoring church team moves a family into their new home.  All the furniture she received when she moved into the Bridge is hers to take with her.  For the children, this move feels different from any other move in the past, for they will still have continuity and familiarity, including their bed and “their stuff”; they will know this move is different and good.

A Bridge Graduation is much like sending one’s child into the world to be responsible for themselves.  We still love and pray for them, we are still a part of their lives, but the new beginning has started.

Each mentoring church, volunteer, and donor joins into the celebration when a mother enters The Bridge to Hope with the hope of something different.  We all celebrate a mother gaining a church family.  Everyone can celebrate a mother’s Graduation as she moves from homelessness to wholeness, living with the dignity of accomplishing goals, and the ability to support herself and her children because each person makes her transformation possible.  This is the ministry of The Bridge to Hope, sharing the transforming love of Christ.  We invite you to join us.

Florence Littauer has beautifully expressed what we are called to do as Christians.  Because you are giving of yourself in a very tangible way when you give the resources God has given to you, to The Bridge to Hope, these beautiful words describe you.

You, indeed, are holding the hands of the hurting and expressing God’s love and helping to carry the heavy loads of the moms who have trusted B2H to help them.

We cannot remove the pain that has taken root in their hearts, but we can hold them and help them experience the love of Jesus, who can help them live through and beyond their pain.

We cannot remove the heavy loads that they carry, but we can stand beside and put our hands out to help carry that load and help them put it in the hands of Jesus as He walks beside them.

Thank you for making it possible for the love of Jesus to be made known to these moms who look to you and the others at B2H who give them a chance for a new life and hope for the future.

When B2H accepts a mom into the program she receives a home completely furnished ready to receive her and her children.  It isn’t just the mom whose life that has the opportunity to be transformed, it is also the lives of her children.  When a mom and the children graduate they move into a home they choose, they often stay connected with the ministry.  They continue to call for encouragement and guidance from the staff and from their mentoring church team that supported them when they were living in the Bridge apartment.

Twelve years ago, a mom came with 4-month-old twins they were moved in by their team from Bethany Bible.  When they graduated, this same team moved them out of The Bridge into their own apartment, but they have stayed connected and involved with their team and the B2H staff.

Each summer their church team members from Bethany Bible Church brought the girls to VBS.  They have graduated from being participants of VBS to be helpers.  This summer with the guidance of members of their church team, they shared that they had not personally asked Jesus to be their Lord and Savior.  That day, with the mentors that brought them to home to The Bridge to Hope when they were 4 months old, they made that decision.

Those that financially support or volunteer sharing the love for God with the ministry of The Bridge to Hope, you have had a part in these two new creations in Jesus Christ.

Because you responded to God’s call to give your 2017 tax credit to direct your tax dollars to The Bridge to Hope, we were the recipients of one of the $10,000 grants awarded on May 17 from Impact AZ!!    You made it possible for The Bridge to Hope to continue ministering to moms who are putting their lives back in order with responsibility before God and our community.

Each month, our prayer is that God would put it in the hearts of those who love Him to send the resources He has given them to The Bridge to Hope.    We serve these moms and their children month to month, depending on those who God leads to send their resources in.

Having this grant, that you with your tax credit donation has made possible, has helped those responsible for the day to day operations, and see how God shows up providing for our needs!

We know there were many charitable organizations beseeching you to remember them with your tax credit dollars.   We thank you for remembering The Bridge to Hope.  We increased the amount of dollars and the number of donors over the 2017 competition, which rewarded us with being one of the grant recipients from the 19 Christian organizations in the contest.

We thank you for your part and ask you to continue to pray for The Bridge to Hope, and trust God to supply the monthly needs for ministering to single homeless moms who are allowing God to bring wholeness and success to their lives.
